A new value-added service is coming to WebBand. We’ve been talking about it for a while now and it will be available for everyone after the first of the year.

Anti-virus software is something that’s a necessary evil in today’s Internet world. It protects your PC from the unwanted advances of smart people who want to damage you, your identity and/or your data. I don’t know about you, but I hate managing my anti-virus software. I hate paying to renew it. I hate downloading updates. I hate running scans.

WebBand now has a technology that will protect your connection. We are providing anti-virus support at the server-level. That means your PC, which is connected to our servers, will be protected without needing special software, downloads or updates. The line that you use to access the Internet will be “clean” – similar to the way the water that comes into your house is “clean.” You won’t have to worry about something getting through because we have “cleaned” it before it gets to you.

Not only will it clean before you get the data, but it will also clean the data you send. Sometimes viruses duplicate themselves using your e-mail, without your knowledge. This new technology will keep you from unknowingly sending viruses to everyone in your address book.

For more information, check out the Anti-Virus landing page at WebBand.com.

We’re excited about this new launch and hope you are too. There is a price increase that goes along with it. We’ve kept it to a minimum and the value you’ll see as an end user is greater than the expense.

Tell us how you feel about this. We do want to hear from you. We’re also interested in hearing from you on new services – what do you need or want from your ISP? Content filters? Backup services? Fax services? Call waiting services? Our desire is to be the best at what we do, so please help us out. I’m always available (craig.brandvold@webband.com), so drop me a note.
