DSL Outage November 21, 2006

We experienced a DSL outage last night. The Central Office at Qwest went down from about 2am to 4am and affected all Qwest customers and partners (including us). The good news is that it’s fixed and hopefully not too many of you were online at 2am.
Remember, if your DSL connection isn’t working, try unplugging it from the power, waiting 30 seconds, plugging it back in and letting it boot up. 9 times out of 10 the connection will come up and you’ll be good to go. If you still have issues, feel free to call us at (509) 688-2550.
New SMB Products November 20, 2006

Today we are launching new SMB connectivity products. We’ve been working pretty hard the past few months to make this happen and we are very excited about the opportunities.
The first package includes a network-level anti-virus/firewall protection. Basically it will block viruses, trojans, spyware, adware and any of those other “-wares” that are destructive and damaging to your PC at the server level BEFORE they reach your PC or network. We literally will be providing a “clean” line to your business.
The second package includes the anti-virus/firewall protection and adds a content filter. This powerful program will filter out the “dark places” on the net. It will keep your business safe online and your employees more productive.
For more information on these new plans, check us out online at www.webband.com/smb. We are planning to launch similar type plans for your family very soon as well.
Modem Reset November 10, 2006

It’s been a bit frustrating around the office today. There are some modem bank issues and we’re frantically trying to get them solved. Unfortunately, this is the second modem issue this week (one we can control (the current one) and one that was our supplier’s fault (it’s fixed)). As of 11:50am, the issue is still being worked, but we hope to have a solution soon – within the hour.
Thanks for being patient with us!
Working in California November 9, 2006

WebBand has been in the Silicon Valley this week at the fall ISPCon show (www.ispcon.com). We’ve been learning about new products and services that we can add to WebBand to make us better and more effective at serving you, our customers. Here are just a few highlights:
Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP)
VoIP is a telephone system that uses your broadband Internet connection to place local and long distance phone calls. A small adapter plugs into your DSL modem and then you plug your regular phone into it. It’s very simple; much less expensive; and has tons of cool features (call waiting, voice mail, etc.). Watch for more details!
Security Services
Are you tired of installing, updating and scanning your PC for viruses, spyware, adware and all the other “wares” that cause damage? We are too. That’s why we are exploring new “network level” services that do it all for you in our data center. Your Internet that we deliver to your home would literally be “clean.” Again, watch for more details!
Web 2.0
For those of you who are a bit more techie, you know that Web 2.0 are applications that run from the web, not your PC. For instance, if you get your e-mail from our webmail platform (mail.webband.com) instead of a program like MS Outlook Express, you are already using Web 2.0. But there are tons of other applications coming. We’re weeding through the best of them to find the ones that make sense for our customers.
These are just a few of the exciting things that we are exploring to make your Internet experience better. Watch your inbox, this blog and our website closely – announcements are coming and I think you’ll like them!
